In
partnership with Hunter Institute of TAFE and Jameson
Rowe Consulting, Belt Maintenance Service provides their
belt splicers with accredited training and assessment,
leading to the nationally recognised qualification Certificate
III in Rubber (Belt Splicing).
Training
takes place in Belt Maintenance Service workshop facilities
and on site, and is designed to develop employee competence
in the practical skills and knowledge needed to carry
out work safely and to the quality standards required
by the company and our customers.
The
competency units covered by this qualification include:
• belt cover repairs
• belt carcass repairs
• vulcanising
• splicing
• operating tools and equipment
• manual handling
• removing and replacing belts
• pulley lagging
• hazard identification.
Many
of these units also meet the requirements for relevant
coal competencies.
Such
an extensive, formal training program helps Belt Maintenance
Service comply with the training requirements in OHS
and mines safety legislation. This in turn helps our
customers comply with their obligations to ensure contracted
companies can provide evidence of safe systems of work
and competence.
